Happy New Year from the Doan Family
2020 may not have been the year that any of us imagined or hoped for, but as we reflect back on all that God has done, we see so many blessings to be thankful for! We also look forward to this new year and all that God is going to do in it!

Looking Back

When we look back on 2020, of course we will remember it as the COVID year where everything was closed, we were separated from many dear friends and family, Zoom became a normal part of life, I (Cassandra) lost two of my grandparents, Daniel was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, and we had to wear masks everywhere we went. BUT...it also was the year that our precious daughter, Lydia, was born and we became parents, Daniel got his green card and was finally able to come to America, we were able to spend a lot of time with my family for the first time, and Daniel was able to get more translation work done than ever. God continues to teach us to trust Him even when things don't go the way we thought they would or wanted them to. He is so good and faithful and we have much to be grateful for!

Looking  Forward

Looking forward into 2021, one of the biggest things we are waiting for is Daniel's citizenship to be processed and Vietnam's borders to open back up. We were not planning on being in America this long, and although we've been able to continue a lot of our work here, we are anxious to get back. We are still hoping and planning to support the DTS (Discipleship Training School) that will be running in Ho Chi Minh City this March, and if possible, run another TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in the fall. As I write this section, Proverbs 19:21 comes to mind: "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand." I'm reminded that, although we have many desires and dreams for this year, it is ultimately God who is in control and His will that will be done. So please partner with us in prayer as we seek the Lord, wait upon Him and trust in His perfect will.

Prayer Requests
1. That we would hear something about Daniel's citizenship application soon and that it would be processed quickly.
2. That Vietnam would open it's borders back up so we'd be able to return to Ho Chi Minh City as soon as possible.
3. For Lydia as she turns 6 months old this month, that her tongue and lip ties wouldn't cause any problems with her starting to eat solid foods and her hemoglobin test results wouldn't show any significant problems.
4. For this to be a year where we all grow closer to the Lord and more dependent upon the Holy Spirit in our every day lives.
We hope that as you reflect back on 2020 you will also be able to find many things to be thankful for. We really appreciate all of your prayer and support as we continue to serve the Lord to the best of our ability here. It is still our hope that as things start to open back up that we will be able to visit with more of you who live in Minnesota. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!

Blessings,
Daniel, Cassandra & Lydia
