About Us

Hi! We are Daniel, Cassandra, Lydia & Avigail Doan. We have been serving as missionaries with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in Asia and Latin America for many years! We are also currently partnering with Tien Phong Ministries to translate Christian literature for Vietnamese speakers around the world. We especially aim to equip and encourage the Vietnamese underground church with more resources to help them find joy in Jesus amidst persecution.

Cassandra is from Minneapolis, Minnesota and Daniel is from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In our collective years as missionaries, we have personally ministered in or trained/led short-term mission teams in many areas of ministry, including:

Cassandra's early training and ministry

Cassandra completed her Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Mazatlan, Mexico in 2006 and returned to YWAM Mazatlan shortly afterward as a long-term missionary. She served in Mexico for almost 8 years. In 2014, she traveled to Lausanne, Switzerland to take a BCC (Bible Core Course), gaining a greater understanding of God's word. After completing this course, she served with YWAM Cebu, Philippines for 2 years (2014-2016). While there, God began to give her more of His heart for Asia. This led her to Vietnam in 2017 to attend the Foundations of Counseling Ministry (FCM) school. During this course, she met Daniel and heard God's calling to stay and serve in Ho Chi Minh City.

Daniel's early training and ministry

Daniel first joined YWAM in 2009 when he attended a Discipleship Training Course (DTC) in Ho Chi Minh City. This training was so life-changing for him that he decided to continue to serve part-time with YWAM afterward. He primarily staffed and led other DTC's while he worked and served with his church. Finally in 2013, he went to Nepal to take an Oral Storytelling DTS. The longer he worked with YWAM, the more he felt called to work in the area of training. This led him to take a DTS Equip course in Battambang, Cambodia in 2016 and then the FCM school in Ho Chi Minh City in 2017.

Teaming up and Ministry Vision

We have many common passions and callings. We both love the world, cultures, training and missions!! We have a heart to train young people to know and love God more, to experience His healing and freedom, and to see them empowered to pursue Him and His calling in their lives. After getting married in January 2018, we served YWAM Ho Chi Minh City together in many ways. We helped to organize YWAM Ho Chi Minh's very first TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) course - a 6-week school focused on training English teachers. We also oversaw all the training schools and helped to pioneer the base's first International DTS where local and foreign students were able to study together. We continue to be involved in ministries with YWAM Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and YWAM Mazatlan (Mexico). In 2017, Daniel founded Tien Phong Ministries, with a mission to translate and publish Christian resources to spread the passion of God's glory for the joy of Vietnamese people who are persecuted for their faith. Because he has such a huge passion and desire to see more Christian materials available in the Vietnamese language, Daniel's primary focus is on translating Christian books, articles and podcasts from English to Vietnamese.
